The Happy Scientists

We are getting through – somehow – the third week of everybody having some godawful virus, and it seems that the girls are starting to feel better. We know this not because of the fact that their fevers are disappearing or because they are coughing less or need their noses wiped less. No, it’s because they are letting their talents drift more toward the zone of experimental mischief.

Here, Daddy is delighted that they now seem to love yogurt for lunch and are proudly feeding themselves like Big Girls. Look, G even finished off one cup and asked politely for another. Such good girls! Proud Daddy’s just going to go around the corner for a minute to put some dishes away…

Stupid Daddy’s just going to kick himself for forgetting how much these girls like to put things on their heads.

Ah ah ah… choooo!

Oh, so you got so much on there that even you think some oughta come off?

Note how G thought it best to remove her bib before conducting this experiment. Well, after lunch we all got our heads rinsed off in the kitchen sink. Which – go figure – they both really enjoyed. Went dancing off to naps like they just won a pony. Thanks, Yoplait!

Friday Pics and Video: Dinner Edition

Nothing is more fun than two babies in diapers, both on antibiotics, and being in our 4th month of not owning a washer and dryer, thanks to our awesome, awesome house fire drama. Not that we need a washer, because clearly, our family is the cleanest on the block.

Why, I never find even a crumb of food under these high chairs. Cannot imagine why…

1

Dinner time is for chillaxin’. Just kickin’ back, droppin’ our Gs, and hangin’ out. Ironically, just above her chair, on the bookshelves, are an entire shelf of books by etiquette mavens, including Emily Post’s Blue Book, The Amy Vanderbilt Guide, and some Miss Manners, along with a great run of arcane etiquette manuals from the 19th and early 20th centuries. And NONE of them advocate sitting with your foot up on the dinner table!

2

Some days, they don’t even make it to the high chairs, and fall asleep while bottle-feeding. They don’t stop eating, even after they fall asleep, which is pretty adorable.

3

When she pledges Theta and her pledge Educator writes me and asks for a cute baby picture of her for big sister/little sister match up games, I am sending this one. She fell asleep while eating, and still finished the bottle. That’s some serious talent.

4

But we do make it to the high chairs at least a few times a day, and eating is a very …. tactile … experience. Luckily, this is oatmeal, so you know its great on the skin as a masque.

Check out the ‘blowback’ on these high chair covers. This was a GREAT meal! Luckily, we have spare covers, because these ladies are very artistically inclined when it comes to eating.

And when you get that messy, somebody has to clean you up afterward. Luckily, the Three Stooges often stop by for a wipe up.
